The MX Master 3S is a mouse from Logitech featuring 7 clickable buttons and two independent scroll wheels. The actions performed by these inputs are configured in the free Logi Options+ software available at Logitech’s site. Customizations available range from opening applications, media controls, and even keyboard shortcuts. There are also gestures available allowing you to hold a button and move the mouse in one of four directions to trigger further actions on the your device. The mouse features a mostly comfortable design, allowing the hand to rest easily on top and have most buttons at your finger tips. On the bottom is a switch allowing you to select one of three connected devices, allowing you to change devices without having to pair via bluetooth each time. Logitech claims the MX Master 3S will last 70 days on a full charge while also allowing a one minute quick charge to gain 3 hours of use compliments of the forward facing USB-C port.
While the MX Master 3S is a good mouse, it isn’t without it’s flaws. Depending on what function is assigned to it, the side positioned thumb scroll wheel can be a bit finicky. It sometimes takes a couple attempts to achieve the desired input on some non-scrolling based inputs. There are sensitivity options in the software to help reduce this, so you should be able to dial it in to where you like. While most of the buttons are smartly placed for easy access, the “hidden” thumb button, placed on the lip where the thumb rests while holding the mouse, was slightly awkward to use. This was especially true for the default action assigned to it, which was the press and hold gesture button. Depending on your hand size, this may not be a problem. One other item of note is that the mouse on a couple of occasions lost the ability to perform gestures and keyboard shortcuts. This was easily fixed by completely shutting down the Options+ software and restarting it.
The MX Master 3S is a solid mouse with lots of flexibility, offering a myriad of ways to configure it to suit your needs.
